Our meetings are hybrid! Contact us for the Zoom link. Please check our website to verify the meeting location and time (we occasionally have evening meetings or meetings in other locations).
Happy New Year everybody! Before we get caught up in all the exciting initiatives we have for 2025, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their support of the Winter Community Breakfast last month and especially Joe Richard who ensured it was our smoothest one yet. You could tell by the smiles and full bellies that everyone who attended had a wonderful time! We have many important events coming up this month. On Jan 7th at 9:15am, Ralph and I will be presenting a check on behalf of the Club to the new Science Center at the Lane School and several of us will be volunteering there weekly. Jan 7 is also the date of our next evening meeting at the Church and I hope we can get good participation to celebrate the new year together and plan for the year ahead. Our next big effort will be Meals of Hope in April which is already off to a great start thanks to Debi Malone. Finally, RYLA 2025 applications are now open! If you know any promising high school sophomores, please encourage them to apply before the Feb 17th deadline. Thanks again for a great 2024 and cheers to all the fun and inspiring things in store for 2025! Ralph and I are thankful for all you do to make our Club great!
Evening Meeting -- January 7th
Join Us for the Rotary Club of Bedford's November 5th Evening Meeting for an evening of fellowship, community, and great food!
Attendees must order their food from Ken's Deli before the meeting, or feel free to bring your own food. Place your order during the day on Tuesday, January 7th:
By Phone (781) 276-4999 - preferably between 10:30-11:30 am or 1:00-4:30 pm to avoid confusion during their peak lunchtime.
In either case, tell them your name and that it's a Rotary Club order for later pickup.
Complete your order, including payment.
All Rotary orders will be picked up at 5:30 pm and brought to the meeting.
Keep in mind - there will be a delay between when the order is ready and when it will be picked up. Therefore, it would be best not to order something like soup or a hot entree.
We'll be meeting in Upper Fellowship Hall, not our regular meeting room.
Club Bylaw Vote
Please note that there will be a vote of the membership to eliminate a conflict between two sections of our Club Bylaws as they now stand (please refer to email from Marc Hamilton on 12/26/24). The vote is scheduled to be taken at our regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 - this is an EVENING MEETING. All members are encouraged to attend either in person or via Zoom. We want as many members as possible to participate in this decision. A majority vote is required for the motion to pass.
At the District Foundation Dinner, The Rotary Club of Bedford was represented by Al Rosco, Diane Ryan, Ralph Hammond, Paula Gilarde, Jim Harrill, Sze-Wen Kuo, and Victor Tom. There were 160 attendees for this event, a much larger attendance than in recent years. Among the speakers were DG Joyce Graff, Celeste Herbert (The Rotary Foundation Regional Major Gifts Officer), Bill Gates (virtually), and Chelsea Minkler (Gates Foundation). Bedford’s multi-club multi-district Hope for the Hungry meal-packing program was mentioned early on, and the Bedford Rotarians were recognized for being Paul Harris Fellows and Major Donors.
Last Saturday, the Rotary Club of Bedford had a fantastic time at the Town Tree Lighting, where we partnered with MassBike to give away free safety lights for bikes! 💡✨
To make an even bigger impact, the Club supplemented the project with additional lights of our own, targeting not only cyclists but also pedestrians—and even their furry friends! 🐕🚶♀️🚴♂️
This was our 4th year giving out lights at the Tree Lighting!
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (also known as RYLA) will be held from June 27-29, 2025 at Fitchburg State College with over 200 students from across Central Massachusetts. Each year, the Rotary Club of Bedford selects and sponsors a group of students with excellent potential for leadership and service for attendance.
The Rotary Club of Bedford extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for the Winter Community Breakfast on December 8th at Bedford High School. Your support, enthusiasm, and generosity truly made this event a day to remember!
This year’s Winter Community Breakfast brought together neighbors, families, and friends for a morning filled with warmth, delicious food, and holiday cheer. From the festive decorations to the sound of seasonal melodies performed by talented local musicians, every moment captured the spirit of togetherness and giving that defines our Bedford community.
