Hi,

Happy September!

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable summer.

September brings us back together as a club for our meetings and the start of our calendar of events. We have our 3 meetings a month. We have Bedford Day, Trunk or Treat, Election Day collection for MCC Food Pantry, Winter Holiday Breakfast and much more. There are many opportunities to be involved, have fun, do good, and spend time with each other.

In May we celebrated the 70th anniversary of the founding of this great club. It has done so many amazing things locally and internationally. But it is not the good we do that makes this club special. It is its members. It is all of you. We enjoy each other's company. We laugh. We play games. And we do some good along the way.

Please find ways to help keep our club vibrant and viable. Show up. Participate. Take a role in the club. Others want to see you, work with you and just spend time with you.

The club is only as good as all of you.

Looking forward to another great year.

Tom

Rotarians Bring "Service Above Self" to West Africa

This month, one of our own is taking Rotary's mission of service well beyond Bedford's borders. Lita Verrier, President-Elect, along with Susan Tordella, President-Elect of the Rotary Club of Littleton, have embarked on a journey to Ghana, Benin, and Togo alongside fellow Rotarians to support hands-on projects making a real difference in the region.

Their trip centers on two impactful initiatives:

  • Education access – supporting K-8 schools through Volta Vision for Education, an effort dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for children in the area.
  • Emergency health access – advancing the ambulance tricycle project, known as Moving Health, which is led by Victor Tom and works to bring critical medical transport to communities that need it most.

Read on to see photos that Lita shared from the first day of her trip!

Honoring Bedford's Own: 9/11 Memorial Garden Cleanup

On a recent Saturday morning, Rotary Club members met for their annual cleanup service project at Bedford’s 9/11 Memorial. With this being the 25th year since the terrorist attacks on America, the work was of greater significance.

The 9/11 Memorial’s ongoing stewardship is shared by the Rotary Club of Bedford and Bedford’s Department of Public Works. Rotarians wielding rakes and clippers, and lugging brush, included Tom Pinney (Club President), Diana Jarvis, Victor Tom, Sze-Wen Kuo, Christine Pinney, Katherine Pinney, Paula Gilarde, and Marc Hamilton.
