The Rotary Club of Bedford is proud to announce Roza Shaikh as this year’s recipient of the prestigious Rayford Williams Scholarship. A graduating senior with an impressive academic record, deep intellectual curiosity, and a passion for community building, Roza embodies the values and spirit of Rotary service.
This fall, Roza will begin her studies at Brown University, where she has been accepted into the highly competitive Program in Liberal Medical Education (PLME) — Brown’s eight-year BS/MD program. Through this unique opportunity, she will earn both her undergraduate and medical degrees, preparing her to become a compassionate and well-rounded physician.
Roza plans to major in Neuroscience while also exploring broader disciplines such as Public Health and Anthropology. “With this opportunity,” she shared, “I hope to expand my horizons by acquiring knowledge not only in STEM, but also in other areas… which will ultimately lead me to the path of medical school to become a physician.”
Driven by a desire to understand both the body and mind, Roza is equally committed to strengthening the communities she is a part of. “Through my journey at college, I hope to learn how to strengthen and build a community, appreciate the value of the physical body and mind, and push myself to take on new challenges,” she said.
The Rayford Williams Scholarship was created to honor the legacy of long-time Bedford Rotarian Rayford Williams, and it is awarded annually to a student who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to service. The CSF of Bedford selects the recipient. Roza’s achievements and aspirations make her a truly deserving recipient of this honor.
We congratulate Roza and look forward to seeing the impact she will make in the years ahead. The Rotary Club of Bedford is proud to support her journey and help her pursue her dreams of becoming a physician who leads with empathy, intellect, and purpose.
