As March comes to a close, the Rotary Club of Bedford proudly reflects on Rotary International’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month with a momentous achievement. Our club, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Maseno, has successfully secured a Global Grant from The Rotary Foundation to bring sustainable water solutions and economic empowerment to the Kambiri Community Development Group in Kenya.
A Life-Changing Initiative
Access to clean water remains one of the world’s most pressing challenges, and this grant is a significant step toward addressing the issue. Through this funding, members of the Kambiri Community Development Group will receive vital training in:
- Brick-making – Enabling the community to construct durable water storage structures.
- Rainwater tank construction – Providing schools and healthcare facilities with sustainable rainwater harvesting systems.
- Soap manufacturing – Promoting hygiene and creating an opportunity for income generation.
By equipping local residents with these skills, the initiative will ensure that 12 schools, 1 health center, and 1 training institute gain access to rainwater harvesting and safe water storage solutions. This project will not only improve public health but also foster self-sufficiency and economic development within the community.
Collaboration for a Greater Impact
This endeavor would not have been possible without the dedicated partnership between the Rotary Club of Bedford and the Rotary Club of Maseno. The project exemplifies the Rotary spirit of service above self, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable development and community-driven solutions.
Securing this Global Grant marks a milestone in our ongoing mission to make clean water accessible to all. We are immensely grateful to The Rotary Foundation for supporting this transformative initiative, and we look forward to witnessing the positive changes it will bring to the Kambiri community.
Looking Ahead
As we close this chapter of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month, we remain steadfast in our mission to support communities in need. This project is just one of many ways Rotary continues to create lasting change worldwide. Together, we can make a difference.
Stay tuned for updates as we bring this project to life, and thank you to all who support Rotary’s mission of building a better world, one community at a time.
